Lloyd A. Holmes Approved as Vice President for Student Services

I am very pleased to announce that the appointment of Lloyd A. Holmes as vice president for Student Services was approved by the Board of Trustees yesterday.

Lloyd brings an impressively wide breadth of experience to this position. In his most recent role as dean of students at North Shore Community College in Massachusetts, he provided the kind of exceptional leadership to several student service-related offices that earned him the 2013 North Shore Community College Governance Award. During his tenure as dean of students at Coastal Carolina University, he served as primary judicial officer, developed and managed assessment programs, and successfully served for a year as interim director of counseling as well.

From the earliest days of his higher education experience as a residence hall director, Lloyd gained significant knowledge and skills as a program coordinator, a financial aid advisor and, ultimately, an associate dean of students at the University of Mississippi. In addition to his extensive administrative experience, Lloyd has also taught leadership development courses for both graduate and undergraduate students and a freshman year adjustment to college course.

Lloyd earned a Ph.D. in educational leadership, a M.Ed. in higher education/student personnel services and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Mississippi. He received an A.A. degree in accounting from Mississippi’s Itawamba Community College.

As vice president for student services and an officer of the college, Lloyd will lend his advanced leadership skills and his passion for the community college mission to this division. Please join me in extending him a warm welcome when he assumes his vice presidential role here on April 1.

On a final note, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Chris Belle-Isle who has served as our interim vice president for student services during the past academic year. By graciously lending his leadership to this position, Chris has contributed greatly. Additional thanks go to Pete Otero, chair of the administrative search committee; Marlene Fine, chair of the SCAA search committee; and the members of both committees for helping to choose MCC’s newest vice president. Their dedicated efforts are appreciated – and clearly evident in the very promising result of this process.
