Once again, as Thanksgiving approaches, we take the opportunity to be thankful for everything we have and think about those who have so much less. This economy has put a very real strain on those who help people in need. If you would like to provide food or other items to help make Thanksgiving a better time for many in our community, please consider donating during this event.
Collections for the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive will begin next Monday, November 9th and run through Monday, November 16th. This year, AAWCC, with assistance from the Human Services Club at DCC, will deliver food to families supported by the Catholic Family Center.
We will collect non-perishable canned and boxed items, gift cards to local grocery stores, and financial contributions. Donations of stuffing, corn meal, instant potatoes, gravy, canned fruits and vegetables, and pasta are especially needed. The attached flyer includes a comprehensive list. We will deliver the food in laundry baskets and Rubbermaid totes again; please consider donating these reusable items. (Cash donations will go toward the purchase of gift cards. Checks may be payable to Catholic Family Center and will be forwarded to support CFC’s Women’s Shelter. Please send checks, gift cards, or cash to Jennifer Kinslow, Counseling & Advising.)
