2018-2019 Cybersecurity Awareness Training

In compliance with MCC's Cybersecurity Awareness and Education Policy, all employees are required to complete training each academic year. Our goal is for all active employees to complete the mandated training during October, which is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Why is it important to keep up to date on the latest cybersecurity updates?

  • User behavior continues to put the college at risk. In the month before fall semester began, the desktop support team had to swap out close to 100 office PC's due to a virus infection which originated from employees tricked by phishing emails. This not only put a huge burden on the desktop support team, but also significantly disrupted the users and their offices at the worst possible time of year.

  • Information Security Awareness Training is required by law for continued federal student aid to be compliant with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and with Title IV of the Higher Education Act.

When you receive your "Welcome to your 2018-19 Security Awareness Training Account" email, take the time to complete the training, and please take it seriously. You are the most powerful defense we have to protect our data from cyber criminals. They are constantly trying new ways to trick you into giving them your credentials and access to confidential information. Learn how to protect your identity and prevent harm to MCC and yourself. Arm yourself with the latest information so you don't fall for these attacks.

N.B. The welcome email is auto-generated from the SANS Securing the Human Training system on behalf of MCC.
