D'Alessandris Named to National Committee on Recruitment and Diversity

Paul D’Alessandris, associate professor of physics and engineering science, has been named as the sole two-year college representative on the strategic planning committee for the Doubling Project, an American Physical Society (APS) initiative for increasing the number and diversity of undergraduate physics majors. The six person committee, with representatives from colleges, research universities, science museums and industry, will focus on developing and outlining potential actions that the APS, the American Association of Physics Teachers, and the Society of Physics Students can take both individually and jointly to address both the decreasing number of undergraduate physics majors and the relative under-representation of women and minorities. The committee will report directly to the APS Director of Education and Diversity.
