Debra Dwyer, New Assistant Director, Public Safety


Please welcome Debra Dwyer to her new position as Assistant Director of Public Safety.  Debra started her new position on February 1, 2012.

Debra has more than 25 years of experience in Law Enforcement.  She graduated from the FBI National Academy 128th Session, and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS).  While a member of the Greece Police Department, Debra served as the department’s accreditation manager, developing the department’s first General Order Manual.  Debra was the first female promoted to the civil service rank of Captain in Monroe County.  She also held the ranks of Detective Commander and Acting Chief of Police. She retired from the Greece Police Department in 2001.

In 2005, Debra started working at MCC’s Damon City Campus as an adjunct instructor in the Criminal Justice Department.  Since the fall of 2007 she has worked to establish relationships between MCC and local school districts by coordinating fieldwork placements for education majors.  She also coordinated advisement for the MCC Department of Education.

Debra has received numerous recognitions, including the Outstanding Young Women of America Award.  A native of Canandaigua, Debra currently resides in Irondequoit, NY.
