Men of Color Summit - SUNY Fredonia

This past Saturday, ten students who participate in the Men of Excellence program at Monroe Community College attended the 3rd Annual Men of Color Summit at SUNY Fredonia. With over 100 participants from area colleges in attendance, the young men were introduced to topics such as: Community Health and Research; Entrepreneurship and Art; Dressing for Success; and The Power of Mentoring. The summit concluded with a professional panel who addressed such issues as Fear of Success; Dealing with Negativity; the importance of self-assessment and the importance of using counseling as a way to remain centered and focused on their goals. The panel also encouraged and challenged the participants to become the change they want to see by mentoring youth in their respective communities.

Special recognition goes to Milladge Griffin for his ongoing commitment to championing the needs of young men of color and for his continued excellent work with the Men of Excellence, which reflects the College's mission in terms of "...championing opportunity, innovation, and excellence while transforming students' lives and our community."
