MCC President R. Thomas Flynn and Rochester Institute Technology President Albert J. Simone were quoted in the Dec. 15 Democrat and Chronicle article "College, local leaders unite." The article recapped the College Presidents Summit, convened by Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks -- "the first gathering of its sort to discuss jump starting the local economy."
Eight college presidents and other local leaders participated in the summit and set the stage to work collaboratively to improve the local economy and the region's image.
Within the article, both Flynn and Simone positioned higher education as a "major export industry" for Rochester -- noting that Rochester attracts many students to the area and how their presence impacts the economy.
