Community Leaders Honored, Appointed to MCC Foundation Council

The Monroe Community College Foundation appointed Allen G. Casey, John R. Kraus, Nathan J. Robfogel, Esq., and James J. Ward to its Foundation Council. Membership on the council is an honor bestowed to outstanding volunteers and contributors to the MCC Foundation over a significant period of time. The appointees join 21 current council members.

Casey is president of M/E Engineering, PC and has served as a foundation director since 2004. He and M/E Engineering have generously supported foundation capital campaigns and special events. As a tournament co-chair, Casey helped to redefine the foundation’s annual Scholarship Open golf tournament as a premier area fundraiser. Under Casey’s leadership, the tournament increased its net profit by 48 percent. Casey and M/E Engineering’s involvement have made a positive difference in the lives of MCC engineering students and others, including providing dual credit scholarships for Rochester City School District students studying at the School of Engineering and Manufacturing at Edison.

Kraus is president and owner of World Cavalade of Golf, LLC and vice president of branding and non-traditional Advertising for Wilmorite Management Group, LLC. An alumnus of the MCC class of 1965, Kraus was inducted into the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame in 2004. His distinguished track record of service and support is most notably associated with his leadership of the MCC Foundation’s Scholarship Open golf tournament and its silent auction. A dedicated community leader, Kraus has served on a variety of community boards, including serving as president of the American Cancer Society’s local chapter, trustee of the Aquinas Institute, and as a member of the Monroe County Sherriff’s Foundation board.

Robfogel is senior counsel to the Rochester-based law firm Harter, Secrest and Emery LLP (retired) where he practiced for more than 30 years. Since his retirement, he has limited his practice to service as an arbitrator/mediator in commercial, corporate and securities matters. As an MCC trustee emeritus, Robfogel is one of the founding directors of the MCC Foundation that was incorporated in 1983. Robfogel was instrumental in helping MCC and the MCC Foundation establish numerous relationships with community and business leaders. Robfogel also served as the Rochester Institute of Technology’s vice president of university relations and senior counselor to the president from 1996 to 2001. As an active member of professional societies and not-for-profit organizations, Robfogel’s volunteer activities include Rochester Community Baseball, New York State Facilities Department Corporation, Genesee Valley Trust and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ward is vice president of reengineering initiatives and global sourcing for Bausch & Lomb, Inc. (retired). For the past 23 years, Ward has been highly involved in the MCC Foundation – helping to grow its assets from $500,000 to more than $10 million. He served as chair of the board from 1998 to 2002 and has chaired numerous board committees. His leadership, commitment, and hard work helped the foundation successfully complete three capital campaigns which raised $23 million in support of facilities and programs at MCC. Ward and his wife, Beverly Ward, are members of the foundation’s prestigious E. Kent Damon Lifetime Giving Society. Ward has also served and contributed to the success of the United Way of Greater Rochester, Jewish Community Center and the Boy Scouts of America.
