Writing Across the Curriculum Honor

Writing Across the Curriculum would like to honor faculty in the Biology Department for their work using writing as a High Impact Practice to help students develop and strengthen their critical thinking skills.  Following the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) format created by Mary-Ann Winkelmes and endorsed by the AAC&U, they gave writing assignments that helped students see more clearly how they learn and why their learning matters.  They have contributed to the persistence and success of students in the health pathways and increased student access to Hight Impact Practices, including Writing Intensive Courses, at MCC.

The recipients of the 2021 Writing Across the Curriculum Honor are:

Making a course writing intensive (WR) is a Hight Impact Practice.  In writing intensive courses, students have the opportunity to learn course content through formal and informal writing assignments. To find out more about WR courses at MCC, consult your student handbook or visit the Writing Across the Curriculum website at http://www.monroecc.edu/depts/wac.
