MCC Daily Tribune

Hoping you will join the PEACE Consortium

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly disrupted education systems across the country and around the world, changing what classrooms and learning looks like on a day-to-day basis. Educators are navigating a constantly shifting landscape, with the health of students, teachers, and the community at large at stake. The coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis saw traditional teaching rulebooks thrown out the window – classrooms were shut and remote, online teaching became almost universal in many countries. It fell on teachers to adapt their methods to the new context, reinforcing the importance of teacher collaboration. Teachers collaborate in a multitude of ways when they interact with their colleagues to exchange ideas and resources, discuss new techniques in student learning, team up for joint activities and knowledge creation.

On the other hand, Student Services professionals (who most of the time have their feet both in academics and student activities) realize that the days of working in silos, is over.  Funding is low and personnel is thin.

We have a new consortium at MCC called PEACE (Programming Educators for Action, Collaboration and Equity). The goal of this group is to plan programming around student needs.  This ranges from planning programs around a course being offered in a department, to addressing things that are happening in the community and the nation.  We are inviting you to join us with your ideas and explore ways we can support you.   To find out more please contact Shirley Batistta-Provost at Sprovost@monroecc.edu .  Attached is just some of current programs that will be coming up. Take a minute to scroll through some of the programs that are being offer.  Come join our consortium and scroll through our pamphlet (attached) of events so you can share them with your students.
