Celtic Society Wishes You a Happy Halloween and a Blessed Samhain

Halloween has its roots in the Celtic celebration of Samhain (pronounced SOW-when) that marks the end of summer, the lighter half of the year, and the beginning of winter, the darker half. On Samhain, the boundary that usually separates our world from the supernatural Otherworld becomes permeable, and mortals may find themselves face-to-face with the Fairy Sidhe (SHEE)--or in the Otherworld itself. So, as night falls on Hallow's Eve, be careful where you wander and remember that some of those costumed creatures you encounter may just be visitors from the Celtic Otherworld.

Celtic Society's purpose is to raise awareness of the Celtic Nations (Brittany, Cornwall, Galicia, Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales) and diaspora. It aims to share and celebrate Celtic culture with the college community. Celtic Society welcomes all students, faculty, and employees, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds.
