Successful MCC Matching Day for Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program

On Monday, December 2nd, Monroe Community College hosted a matching day event for area high school students, focused in career technical education, from Edison Tech, Monroe One Tech Center, and Monroe 2 WEMOCO. At this event, 53 students interviewed with over 13 high-tech innovative companies for job-shadowing placements and paid co-op opportunities in spring 2020. The matching day event is part of the Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program, a collaborative partnership between the Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association and Monroe Community College.

The Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program is funded by a grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation, to help leverage dual enrollment to high school students in career technical education pathways, through certificate, degree, and apprenticeship programs at MCC. Additional Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship signing day events are planned for early 2020 across the region. The goal of the program is to highlight and promote advanced manufacturing careers, and to link college credit with work-based learning opportunities for a seamless transition into New York State Registered Apprenticeship Programs.

If there are questions about this program please contact Dale Pearce at 685-6118 or dpearce4@monroecc.edu.
