The front page of the Brighton-Pittsford Post's July 12 edition highlighted three advanced manufacturing programs at MCC. The article included quotes from Vice President Todd Oldham, our longtime industry partners Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association and the Rochester Regional Photonics Cluster, and program participants. The goal of the programs is to meet local employers' immediate and long-term needs for middle-skill workers.
The first-ever Summer Work Experience for Youth serves about 15 Rochester students at the Applied Technologies Center.
The Machining/CNC (July 2-Aug. 23) and Optics Fabrication (July 9-Aug. 16) Job-Readiness Training Programs serve a total of about 30 unemployed and underemployed individuals in the Greater Rochester region. Machining classes are at ATC while optics classes take place in Gleason Hall of Science and Technology.
The Summer Optics Sizzler (June 25-28) drew about 30 students from East High and Gates Chili High schools to MCC's Gleason Hall.
