Importance of Keeping Campus Population Density Low, Permission and Testing Required to Come to Campus

By keeping our campus population density low, MCC is doing its part to stop the spread of the coronavirus. As of October 6, there are 2 reported positive cases among students and employees. Those individuals are in self-isolation off campus.

If you are NOT assigned to work on campus, permission is required to enter campus buildings. An online form is available for those seeking permission to come to campus. Effective next Friday, October 16, the form will require that you, an MCC employee, have been tested and have received a negative COVID-19 test result* within the past 14 days. Upon submission, the form is automatically distributed to your supervisor and President's Cabinet representative/divisional vice president for approval.

While we appreciate your support of and participation in COVID-19 pooled testing efforts, faculty and staff who are working remotely would need permission and a negative COVID-19 test within the past 14 days to participate.

FAQs

  1. If you are ASSIGNED to work remotely, STAY remote. Do not come to campus without your President's Cabinet representative/vice president's permission and a negative COVID-19 test within 14 days of your approved campus visit date. Do not participate in pooled testing.
  2. If you are assigned to work on campus under your office/department approved reopening plan -- whether it is weekly or a minimum of two times per month -- you are NOT required to get a COVID-19 14 days before coming to campus, instead you are encouraged to participate in pooled testing. This might include those of you who check mail on behalf of your department or perform other duties in person in the office on an intermittent basis that must be performed on campus. If you are unsure, please check with your supervisor.
  3. Students who reside on campus, commute and take at least one class or lab on campus, and/or participate in any athletics-related activity on campus are required to participate in pooled testing.
  4. Students who are studying fully online or remotely are not required to participate in pooled testing.

Remember:

  • If you aren't feeling well, stay home. Do not come to campus.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, please notify Human Resources.
  • Do not bring guests to campus. Guests are not allowed to enter campus buildings and must wait outside authorized campus entrance points.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols.
  • Look for updates in the MCC Daily Tribune and on our Return to Campus web pages.

With your continued help, MCC campuses will remain accessible this fall. Thank you for keeping yourself and our students and community healthy and safe.
