MCC Nominated to Receive Promising Practice Site Visit in Fall 2020

In 2016, Monroe Community College was awarded a $6 million America's Promise grant through the U.S. Department of Labor. Under the leadership of the economic and workforce development division, the award funded NY INSPIRE, a 4-year project charged with connecting under-served urban and rural youth and adults, veterans, and incumbent workers with tuition-free training and education in advanced manufacturing, information technology, and health care occupations.

Recently, the NY Inspire Program at MCC was one of three grantees nominated to receive a Promising Practice site visit in Fall 2020. The purpose of the Promising Practice site visit is to gather and review information related to program achievements, sustainability strategies, and employer partnerships that can be shared with other grantees. Selections for this nomination were based on diligent grant monitoring, above target outcomes and creative approaches to process development and solutions.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Christina Bakewicz, Manager, NY Inspire, and Ann Kuhn, Project Manager, for their leadership on this grant. Through their diligence, they made this project another visible success for MCC and demonstrated to the U.S. Department of Labor that MCC is a strong regional workforce partner.
