Jim Ward to Receive Philanthropy Award

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, New York Genesee Valley Chapter
recently announced James J. Ward, immediate past chair, MCC Foundation Board of
Directors, asOutstanding Volunteer Fundraiser for 2002. The award, part of
the chapter's 2002 Awards for Philanthropy, will be presented at noon on Nov.
15, National Philanthropy Day, at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.

Ward was nominated for the award by the MCC Foundation
where he has served as a member of its board of directors for 15 years, the
past four years as chair.

"In addition to the many hours he volunteered and dollars he raised, it was
Jim's intangible qualities of leadership that motivated the MCC Foundation to
nominate him for the award," said Brenda Babitz, president, MCC Foundation.
"The commitment, tenacity and determination Jim demonstrates are outstanding.
We are so excited that he will be recognized by professional fundraisers for
his volunteer efforts on behalf of the College."

During Ward's involvement on the board, the MCC Foundation has grown to more
than $7.2 million in assets to become one of the preeminent fundraising
organizations among the country's 1,300 community colleges. He remains
instrumental to creating lasting relationships between prominent business and
philanthropic leaders and the College.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, New York Genesee Valley Chapter
serves the Greater Rochester, western Finger Lakes and Genesee Valley areas. It
is one of 167 chapters in the United States, Canada and Mexico that works to
