MCC’s Alumni Week and Homecoming celebration begins Wednesday, October 7! 


MCC faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends are invited to participate.  Join us for fun-filled week of events at MCC! 

Homecoming Fall Festival/DCC Homecoming Kick-off and Verizon Wireless Career Day, Wed., Oct. 7

Brought to you by the Campus Activities Board and the Student Government Association, the 80s inspired Fall Festival will feature inflatables, games, food trucks and more at the Brighton Campus!  11 am to 2 pm in parking Lot F.

MCC students are invited to visit Alumni Week and Homecoming sponsor Verizon Wireless at the career table at the Damon City Campus in the 4th Floor Atrium and enter to win a $250 scholarship from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  During college hour, please join students, faculty, and staff for ice cream, cake, music and more in the 4th Floor Lounge—hosted by the Office of Campus Life and SEGA. 

Spirit Day Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game/Sports Hall of Fame Banquet, Fri., Oct. 9

Wear black and gold and cheer on your favorite faculty members and our students as they go head to head in a basketball game on Monagan Court at noon. Come and cheer for your favorite player!  Music provided by WMCC The Pulse.

In the evening, attend the MCC Sports Hall of Fame dinner and join the MCC family in applauding the success of this year’s inductees: Samantha Rollins ’08, softball; Scott Harris Jr. ’05, golf; Allyn Parrino ’11, women’s soccer and lacrosse and special award recipient John Graham, former MCC golf coach. Homecoming Day Alumni Soccer Game/5K/Tailgate Party/Tribunes Soccer/Artist Lecture, Sat., Oct. 10

MCC’s employees are leading the way by forming teams and seeking sponsorships.  Our 5K Walk/Run scholarship drawing continues to grow and award more scholarships each year!  A total of $5,000 in MCC scholarships will be awarded to current MCC student participants at the conclusion of the race. Check-in and registration opens at 9:30 a.m., the walk/run starts at 11 am and new this year, the one-mile fun run starts at 11:10 a.m.  Walk-in registration fee is $23.  Special MCC student registration fee is $10.  Before the race, alumni soccer players will return to campus for a match in the PAC Center. 

Following the race, enjoy a delicious Tailgate hot buffet lunch, sponsored by Sodexo and the MCC Association, in the gymnasium (tickets are $8); cheer on the MCC Tribunes as they face rivals in women’s and men’s soccer at 12 and 2 p.m.  Take in the alumni art exhibit in the Mercer Gallery. The art features a broad range of creative work by MCC alumni David Jung ’92, Karen Matzke-Gallegos, Florencia Decurgez, Jack Hellaby ’96, Matte Baxendell ’85, Mark Stevens and Jeremy Sawyer.  Artist lecture at 2 p.m.  

Alumni Cooking Demo, Thurs., Oct. 2

This popular class is sold out; we will add your name to the wait list.  Chef Gerry Brinkman, Michelle Bartell, and students from MCC’s Hospitality Management program will feature outstanding Indian influenced dishes including:  Rasam, a spicy lentil broth; Saag Aloo, Braised Spinach and Potatoes; Roast Chicken with Pumpkin Seed Sauce and Gulab Jamun, honey soaked Indian doughnuts.
