Highlighting Disability Awareness Month

In 1988, the United States Congress declared October as National Disability Awareness Month, to raise awareness of the employment needs and contributions of individuals with all types of disabilities. The Counseling Center and Disability Services office will be celebrating our commitment to supporting students with their future goals and aspirations throughout the month.

In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law to affirm the dignity of every person, regardless of disability. The law prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life (schools, jobs, transportation, places open to the general public).
