Richard Ryan, professor of psychology at the University of Rochester and the Institute for Positive Psychology and Education in Sydney, Australia, delivered the Fall 2015 Honors lecture “Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation in School and at Work.” Professor Ryan explained the difference between the two sources of motivation, the methods of promoting intrinsic motivation in the classroom and workplace, and the positive effects on learning and well-being.
