SUNY Chancellor's Awards for Excellence: An Overview

The Chancellor's Awards for Excellence are System-level honors conferred to acknowledge and provide system-wide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. All campuses are encouraged to participate, and to have a diverse and inclusive pool of candidates for consideration. Each year, MCC nominates deserving colleagues for these prestigious awards.

Adjunct Teaching

This award is a recognition of, and tribute to, the expertise, dedication and commitment of adjunct faculty. Award recipients personify professional excellence and serve as role models for the SUNY community. This award category provides the opportunity to appropriately recognize dedicated adjunct faculty whose accomplishments rise to the level of the stated award criteria.

Faculty Service, Librarianship, Professional Service, Scholarship and Creative Activities, and Teaching

These awards underscore SUNY's commitment to sustaining intellectual vibrancy, advancing the boundaries of knowledge, providing the highest quality of instruction, and serving the public good. Through these awards, SUNY publicly proclaims its pride in the accomplishment and personal dedication of its instructional faculty, librarians and professional staff across its campuses.

Classified Service

This award gives system-wide recognition for superior performance and extraordinary achievement by employees in the Classified Service. This award demonstrates the SUNY commitment to individuals who provide superior service to its students and the community at large. 

MCC Nomination Allocations

Next to each award you will see a number.  The number represents MCC's nomination allocations for 2022-2023, as set by SUNY.  

  • Adjunct Teaching (Up to 4 nominations)
  • Faculty Service (Up to 2 nominations)
  • Librarianship (1 nomination)
  • Professional Service (Up to 3 nominations)
  • Scholarship and Creative Activities (Up to 2 nominations)
  • Teaching (Up to 4 nominations)
  • Classified Service (1 nomination)

Application deadlines vary depending on the award.  Calls for nominations will appear in the Trib based upon the submission deadlines set by SUNY.  Information about nomination criteria and materials required for nomination packets will also be shared via the Trib, or you can review the information by clicking on the links above.
