MCC Honor Society Receives Recruitment Recognition

The Phi Theta Kappa chapter at MCC will receive the coveted Pinnacle Obelisk during the honor society’s international convention in April. The obelisk is given to chapters who meet a rigorous three-year goal to increase membership.

As part of a Pinnacle Scholarship Award Program, Phi Theta Kappa recognizes chapters for their recruitment efforts. To receive the obelisk, the chapter must increase membership by at least 10 percent or induct 90 percent or more of the students who are eligible for membership. MCC’s Alpha Theta Iota Chapter exceeded the requirements, including an increase in membership by 30 percent last year. Alpha Theta Iota currently has 459 members.

In addition to the award, Alpha Theta Iota received a $100 stipend to use for chapter scholarships. Overall, Phi Theta Kappa issued $70,000 in scholarships to 79 chapters that reached the three-year goal, 525 chapters that reached a one-year goal, and 25 regions that met specified recruitment goals.

We're proud of our students’ work to increase membership so that more students may benefit from Phi Theta Kappa. And thank you to faculty for supporting student involvement.
