Radio News Show Spotlights DCC-Based Program

Beth Adams, host of WXXI's Morning Edition, interviewed Eileen Radigan, coordinator of the Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID), about the collaborative initiative based at the Damon City Campus. The live interview aired Thursday morning (Jan. 10) on WXXI AM 1370.

TPSID is a partnership among MCC, the Rochester City School District, and Lifetime Assistance that provides students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop employment and other important transition skills through a postsecondary experience. The students access MCC courses, participate in internships on and off-campus, and join clubs and attend college social events. Currently, 12 students are in the program.

The partnership is funded trough a U.S. Department of Education grant. This effort is also funded in part by the Golisano Foundation. The Institute for Innovative Transition at the University of Rochester is the grantee, and they support the coordination of the partnership at MCC and provide us with technical assistance, as well as the other local TPSID partnerships at the University of Rochester, Keuka College, and Roberts Wesleyan College.
