On Saturday, September 27, over 75 volunteers recruited by Rochester AmeriCorps, Mercy Outreach Center, and NEAD conducted a Mini Clean Sweep in the North Goodman/Webster Avenue area. Support from the City of Rochester enabled the volunteers to clear vacant lots, create garden space, and remove graffiti in a multi-block area. Rochester AmeriCorps, based at the Damon City Campus, became involved in the project in recognition of Service Nation’s Day of Action. The day saw over 2,500 projects in all 50 states, with over 100,000 volunteers mobilized.
Rochester AmeriCorps is planning another NE Rochester clean-up on Make a Difference Day, October 25.
