The MCC Libraries coordinated a workshop on August 15th for our own and area librarians on the Association of College and Research Libraries’ "https://acrl.ala.org/ilstandards/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Framework-for-IL-for-HE-Draft-2.pdf" draft Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Distinguished Librarian Trudi Jacobson (SUNY Albany), co-chair of the ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education Task Force, facilitated this event.
The draft Framework affirms a rapidly changing higher education environment, an increasingly dynamic information ecosystem, and a heightened emphasis on students as content creators rather than just information consumers. The Task Force intends for the finished Framework to facilitate the integration of information literacy concepts and skills into curricula much like ACRL’s Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education.
