The MCC baseball team will take on the Fighting Artichokes of Scottsdale Community College (Ariz.) in the opening round of the 2007 NJCAA Division II World Series.
The game will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday at USA Stadium in Millington, Tenn. The Tribunes are making their first World series appearance since 1989.
MCC enters the double elimination tournament winners of 13 straight and sporting an overall record of 35-11. Scottsdale is 42-20 on the season.
Win or lose, Monroe will play again on Sunday. If the Tribunes win on Saturday, they will play at 7:30 p.m. If they lose, they will play at 12 p.m.
