2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Monroe A and B, Warshof Conference Center

For close to 33 years, she’s brought innovation, tireless dedication, and heart to everything she does. On Wednesday, June 23rd, we’ll celebrate the career of Dr. Janet J. Glocker.

Janet earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in General Science from Bridgewater College in 1967, a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Clemson University in 1973, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education from Syracuse University in 2005.

In September 1979, Janet was hired for a full-time, term appointment as a faculty member in Business Administration/Economics.

In 1982 World Research Inc., a leading economic think tank, named her one of five outstanding teachers of Free Enterprise Economics in the nation. Janet co-authored a high school economics textbook, Invitations to Economics, published by Scott-Foresman. The text sold over 400,000 copies and was the second leading selling economics text in the nation during the early 1980s.  In 1986, she became chair of the Business Administration/Economics Department.  Four years later she was named dean of the second largest academic division at MCC: Business and Health Professions.

In 1995, Janet won the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.  She has mentored countless faculty and staff members officially and unofficially throughout the years.

More recently, she has been a champion of curricular reform, improving the hiring, promotion and tenure process and creating linkages within the community to better serve our students.

One of Janet’s most passionate commitments has been to the Monroe Community College Foundation and its great work on behalf of our students.  To honor Janet, the MCC Foundation is providing a special opportunity to make a donation in her name and include a short dedication in a keepsake booklet commemorating her career.  Use the attached form or call 262-1500 to submit your tribute.  The deadline for booklet dedications is June 3rd.

Please join us on June 23rd as we thank Janet for her remarkable service to the students, staff, and faculty of Monroe Community College.
