Countdown to Classes: 10 Things to Know

With 12 days to go until the first day of classes on Wednesday, August 26, below are things to know.

  1. If you are assigned to work on campus, save time by taking the required COVID-19 self-assessment before you arrive on campus. Thanks to our Technology Services team, when you swipe your MCC ID at an authorized entrance to campus, your assessment will automatically be linked in order to expedite your safe entry into the building.
  2. Face coverings are required when on campus. Face shields will be provided to faculty for use in instructional settings.
  3. The Applied Technologies Center, Brighton Campus and Downtown Campus each have one authorized entrance that will be monitored by Public Safety. Employees and students will enter the Brighton Campus through the Spina Administration Building's first (ground) floor entrance only.
  4. Thanks to Human Resources, a Return to Campus Orientation--a required training module--is available in myMCC/Blackboard under the Professional Development tab.
  5. This fall, approximately 75% of MCC courses will be delivered via distance learning. The remaining 25% of courses and labs will be offered in-person in order to reduce density on campus.
  6. We will all need to do our part to keep learning and working spaces clean and safe. By doing so, our Facilities staff will be able to focus on commons spaces throughout the day and conduct a deep cleaning each night. Hand sanitizer and cleaning materials will be available.
  7. Most MCC students are not required to have a COVID-19 test before coming to campus. Exceptions include students who live in the residence halls. Student-residents are required to take a COVID-19 test. Their health will be monitored by Health Services staff.
  8. Tribune Hall on the Brighton Campus has been designated as our quarantine and isolation building. (The building has 127 rooms in 33 suites available.) Students in quarantine will be monitored daily by our Health Services staff and be provided food, face masks, personal hygiene and cleaning supplies.
  9. Plans are subject to change due to new information, guidance and/or direction from New York state and Monroe County.
  10. Updates will be posted to our online Coronavirus Updates/Return to Campus guide.
