MCC Student Leaders Share Experiences with Attica High School

Monroe Community College students hosted a leadership seminar for Attica High School students on Wednesday, Dec. 18 on the Brighton Campus. Eleven members of Attica High School's Principal Advisement Council (PAC), comprising high school seniors and juniors, attended the seminar.

The seminar was requested by Rodney Ryan, principal, Attica High School, in order for MCC students to share their leadership skills and views on civic responsibility with the PAC members. The program was designed to introduce students to valuable skills and motivate them to become involved with their community. Based on the success of the seminar and Ryan's eagerness to return in the spring, more area high schools may be engaged to participate in similar seminars the future.

Student leaders and MCC administrators, including President Flynn and Dr. Salvador, welcomed the high school students and reflected upon the College's leadership program. Specific projects such as the September 11th Remembrance Walk provided a tangible symbol for student success and leadership at MCC. The memorial, a student initiative, was dedicated on the Brighton Campus on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
