MCC Daily Tribune

Emeritus Employee Recognized For Community Service

MCC congratulates Ms. Joan Moorehead on being recognized by Eleversity at their 3rd Annual Women of Color Summit.  The theme for this year's summit is Healing, Restoration, and Resilience which reflects the impact of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic and how it exposed long-standing inequities by race, ethnicity, and income.  Joan’s recognition in connection to this theme for her longstanding commitment to inclusive excellence and diversity at MCC is fitting.

Joan Moorehead was born and raised in the Rochester area.  She continues to devote her life to supporting individuals in the community in their quest to obtain a quality education and identifying the resources required to succeed.  She recently retired from Monroe Community College in 2020, after 22 years advising students from the Rochester City School District and Monroe County as an Admissions Counselor.  In retirement, Joan continues to support organizations in the community by volunteering her time to help them succeed in making Rochester a great place to live.

Thank you Joan for truly embodying the vision of MCC by championing equity, opportunity, innovation, and excellence, while transforming students' lives and communities.
