Appointment of Julie A. White, Asst. Director, DCC Student Services


I am pleased to announce that Julie A. White, M.S., Ed., has been appointed as Assistant Director of the Damon City Campus Student Services Center. Julie has a Master of Science Degree in Education-Counseling from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a Bachelor of Science in Education-English Literature from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Julie brings a wealth of experience to Monroe Community College. She comes to MCC from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she was Director of Human Subjects Research and a Senior Research Administrator since 2004, Associate Director of the Center for Student Transition and Support from 2001 to 2004, and Coordinator of the Women's Center from 1998 to 2004. Julie was a Health Educator for SUNY Geneseo from 1993 to 1998 and worked for the University of Rochester from 1991 to 1993. She began her professional career as an English Teacher at Princeton High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Julie also worked as a Panel Coordinator, Teenage Parent Support System (TAPSS) in Rochester, served as a fellow with the American College Health Association and has received several awards and honors during her career, including the Award of Excellence, Deaf Professional Group, National Technical Institute of the Deaf at RIT, and in 1999 she received the Miguel Garcia-Tunon Award in Human Dignity awarded by the American College Health Association. Julie has participated in training as a Diversity Advocate in the National Coalition Building Institute’s model of prejudice reduction and has initiated relationships and built effective collaborations with Rochester community nonprofits, including Rape Crisis Service, Alternatives for Battered Women and Advocacy Services for Abused Deaf Victims.

Julie’s primary responsibilities will be the management and oversight of the counseling, disability and wellness service areas within DCC’s Student Services Center. Please take an opportunity to welcome Julie to Monroe Community College.
