I am pleased to announce the appointment of Fabian Rivera as Director (Chief) of Public Safety, pending approval by the Board of Trustees.  Chief Rivera will begin to lead the College’s Public Safety Department on Monday, June 21, 2021 and brings over 32 years of both law enforcement and military experience to the College community.  He most recently served as Commander of Patrol Operations for the Rochester Police Department (RPD) where he started as a Patrol Officer in 2001.  Chief Rivera jointly served the RPD as Emergency Task Force (SWAT) Assistant Team Commander from 2013 to 2017, joining the SWAT entry team in 2003.  He started his career with the U.S. Marine Corps (Active Duty) in 1989 with an honorable discharge in 1993.  Chief Rivera is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy and holds a Master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport; he began his educational path at MCC with an AS degree majoring in Criminal Justice.    Chief Rivera previously served MCC at the PSTF Basic Sniper School as Administrator and Instructor; he also has taught for both MCC and Roberts Wesleyan College as an adjunct faculty for Criminal Justice.

The entire MCC Community and Monroe County will mutually benefit from Chief Rivera’s extensive experience in law, military, public safety, and educational instruction.  Please join me in welcoming Chief Rivera to Monroe Community College.
