Karen Chin Receives Employee Award

Karen Chin is Administrative Services’ latest recipient of the Administrative Services Award for Diligence and Conscientious Performance beyond the call of duty.  We all know Karen since she works in the most important office at the college – payroll.  Recently Karen used these skills – attention to detail, accounting expertise, exceptional communication and organizational skills, and knowledge of the college – to assist with successful implementation of the MCC Ethics Hotline.

The decision was unanimous to appoint Karen to the MCC Ethics Hotline Implementation Team.  Her knowledge of the controllers operations and recent bachelor's of accounting degree provided the expertise needed to review the accounting reporting category template.  Karen did an excellent job of working with the financial staff to customize the accounting category to fit MCC.

Additionally, Karen stepped right up when assistance was needed to organize meetings, edit the webpage, orchestrate a communication plan, and develop promotional materials.  She deserves the credit for taking the lead role in preparing excellent presentations used to educate the college community – board, management, and employees.  Karen did this work above and beyond her payroll responsibilities as evidenced by all of us receiving our paychecks.

Congratulations to Karen for demonstrating superlative performance within and beyond her position to benefit the college community.
