LPP Student Honored by Mayor Duffy

Maurice Wims, Jr., a five year participant in MCC’s Liberty Partnerships Program, was honored as a “Senior for Success” by Mayor Duffy on June 19th.  The ceremony, which took place at City Hall, recognized several Rochester City School District Seniors who have overcome personal challenges to excel academically. Maurice, a Wilson Commencement High School student, graduated on June 27th and will be attending college in the fall. He was also interviewed by the Democrat and Chronicle for an article which appeared on June 25th.

Liberty Partnerships, a New York State Education Department grant funded initiative, serves at-risk youth in the Rochester City School District. Academic and personal support services are provided to ensure that students graduate from high school and enter post-secondary education as competent young adults.
