Welcome Back from Gretta, MCC's Certified Therapy Dog

Hi Everybody,

This is a great week for me! I have already seen so many of my friends I missed over January, and I've met lots of new MCC people, as well. Mom said everybody's kind of highly stressed during the first week, excited but stressed, so I've been resting up to give and receive lots of love from all of you!

Please know, if you haven't yet met me, that I am a trained, certified therapy dog, and that's why I can be on campus.

Just a reminder, I'm not a service dog (one who is highly trained to perform particular jobs for a particular person) and who is not to be touched while working. I am trained to be loved and touched by everybody; that's my job while I'm working. So, other than our service dogs on campus, I'm the only dog that you will get to see.

You may think that I'm always as calm as you see me at MCC, but Mom wants to assure you that I'm not. When I'm not "Working," I'm very much a typical dog (I even occasionally steal food off the counters). Oops, Mom said I shouldn't have mentioned that.

By the way I am a golden retriever, AND yesterday was my 5th birthday! I have a brother Oliver (Ollie), who's only 2/12 (and acts like he's 6 months). Mom wonders if he'll EVER get to be a therapy dog. I also have a cat brother, Gato.

Here's a recent photo of me and Ollie. He's the one with the head!

Have a great semester, and look for me in the offices and hallways! We can also try to come to your events or stop by your offices, if you invite us.

Love Gretta and Mom (Kathy O'Shea)
