Update: ACCUPLACER Placement Testing News

After a review by Student Services, Academic Services and the Faculty Senate, Placement Testing Services will be housed in the Division of Academic Services beginning February 1, 2013.

The College is committed to the success of our students. As a way to strengthen that commitment, MCC has established a testing tool to assess the academic readiness of students pursuing a program of study or seeking to take certain courses.

The
ACCUPLACER measures a student’s knowledge in college-level math, arithmetic, elementary algebra, reading comprehension, and sentence skills.  It is a computer-based assessment and not a pass or fail test; rather, the results help determine what classes best fit the student and their academic needs.

Placement Testing Services offers students a variety of free or inexpensive resources to brush up for the test prior to taking it for the first time.  We highly recommend students to test when they are well rested, and only after a thorough review of the
ACCUPLACER study guides.

Academic Services will be responsible for placement testing and quality improvement efforts that are designed to assure a positive student testing experience.  During this transition, Dan Raimondo has been named Testing Coordinator, and may be reached at <
