Shea appointed Assistant to President at Board Meeting

I am pleased to announce that Raymond Shea will assume the position of Assistant to the President, effective September 1, 2008. (This vacancy resulted from Richard Degus' recent retirement). In this capacity, Ray will advise the president on a variety of institutional matters and work closely with the vice presidents on collaborative projects. In addition to managing the fiscal accounts of the office of the president, he will oversee the offices of Planning, Grants and the Homeland Security Management Institute and work with other departments on such matters as mission review, space planning, facilities design, and community-based partnerships.

Prior to assuming administrative responsibilities at MCC, Ray was a professor in the Business Administration/ Economics Department for 20 years. Ray has also participated on a number of departmental and college-wide committees as well as served as president of the Faculty Senate. His experience and background will be invaluable in his new administrative role. Ray earned a bachelor of arts degree from St. John Fisher College and an MPA from SUNY Albany.

Please join me in congratulating Ray on his new position.
