Eric M. Smith ’84, MCC Alumni Hall of Fame Inductee


Join in celebrating the success and leadership of MCC alumnus Eric M. Smith ’84, owner and president, CMI Communications. Eric will be inducted into the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame at the MCC Foundation’s 24th Annual Salute to Excellence dinner on Thursday evening, November 14 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Eric was nominated by Bert Brinkerhoff, vice president and team leader, M&T Bank. Following is a piece of Eric’s inspiring story:

Eric earned his associate degree in audiovisual technology from MCC in 1984. He is owner and president of CMI Communications, providing sound systems, stage lighting, video projection and complete production coordination and more using the latest technology. He has supported national and international clients in nearly every major city throughout the United States and Canada as well as overseas locations as far away as Australia and Thailand. His company is consistently ranked among Rochester’s Top 100 companies by the Rochester Business Alliance.

Eric is a past recipient of VisitRochester’s Outstanding Community Contributor and Convention Connection awards. He gives back to our community through the Rochester Business Alliance, Rotary Club and the New York State Business Council and is an in-kind contributor to area nonprofit organizations.  He is a member of InfoComm International and the Rochester Visitor Industry Council. Eric resides with his wife and two children in Spencerport.
