New Name Connector Service Available Monday, August 16

We have installed a telephone business tool that will allow you to contact anyone at Monroe Community College by simply saying their name or department.  It’s called Name Connector and is a service offered by Parlance Corporation.

Beginning Monday, August 16 all employees will have access to Name Connector.

Whenever you want to contact an employee or department you will simply press the Directories button, select Option 4 “Name Connector” and lift your handset, listen for the prompt and say the name of the person or department you want to reach.  This service can be used from any Cisco phone on campus. The Employee Directory will be relocated to Option 5, “Other Directories,” where you are still able to type in a name or do a reverse look-up by extension.

Please remember, we may need your assistance to perfect the ability of the system to recognize names and pronounce them correctly. If there are any gross errors in pronunciation or names that are unreachable, please let us know. We are asking that you email us at <"
mailto:Hdesk@monroecc.edu"> if you experience any problems or difficulty with this service. Please include as much detail as possible describing the issue and, if applicable, the phonetic spelling of your name. Your input is important to the success of this new product and is greatly appreciated! Our intent is to extend this service to the community at large by the end of August.

When fully enabled, calls to MCC’s main numbers 292-2000 (Brighton Campus) and 262-1600 (Damon Campus) will be directed to Name Connector. Callers will be able to ask for any student service operation, department, or employee at Brighton, Damon, Applied Technologies Center and the Public Safety Training Center.

We appreciate your help!
