Sustainability Day: Opportunity to Recycle Books & Textiles

Wednesday, October 23rd is Sustainability Day. The bookstore will have recycle bins from both One Planet Books and Planet Aid at the Brighton Bookstore on the first and second floors and at the Damon store location on the 4th floor.

One Planet Books partners with several recycling programs to ensure that each book is properly destroyed and re-purposed. Once shredded, the recycled books are used to create a product of free sheet and mixed grade bales for major sustainable companies including Kimberly-Clark to create products such as napkins or tissues.

Planet Aid collects all textiles - clothing, shoes, backpacks etc. Planet Aid is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used clothing and shoes to protect the environment and support sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world. The projects they support improve health, increase income, aid vulnerable children, train teachers, and help strengthen communities and reduce poverty.
