New Play by Maria Brandt Streaming 3/21- 4/3

Congratulations to Maria Brandt! The Blank Theatre in Hollywood, CA, will stream a reading of her new play Something Else for two weeks beginning Monday, March 21, as part of their Living Room Series.

Something Else tells the story of Rachel, a woman in her forties, who purchased an AI she programmed to be a younger version of herself. Rachel hopes that by having conversations with "Cynthia" she can address her unresolved feelings about a decades-old experience with someone she calls “Mr. John." However, as the play progresses, it becomes clear there is something else Rachel needs to process if she hopes to mend her relationship with her partner, Michele.

Something Else was developed with Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, NY, in 2019. At The Blank, the play will be directed by American Conservatory Theatre alumni Alicia Sedwick. The Blank is committed to the enrichment of Hollywood’s cultural life through production of first-rate theatre, education of current and future artists, and the creation of groundbreaking new works for the global theatrical repertoire. Now in its 31st year, The Living Room Series embodies The Blank’s commitment to developing new work by diverse voices from both established and emerging writers.

To watch the play, just RSVP at https://www.theblank.com/livingroomseries/. You then can stream the play any time between 8 PM PST March 21 and 10 PM PST April 3. Donations are accepted but not required.
