MCC’s Admissions Office Hosts an Honors Open House for High School Students


On Thursday, November 11, Janet Glocker, Vice President of Academic Services welcomed over 90 high school honors students and their parents to a special open house showcasing all of the honors opportunities MCC offers.

The audience had an overview of the admission and financial aid process by Donna Burke, Assistant Director of Admissions. A panel of MCC Faculty and Staff including, Lee Adnepos, Honors Coordinator, Bob Lasch, Applied Technologies, Ed Martin, Engineering Science, Kathy O’Shea, English, Jodi Oriel, Campus Center and Holly Wynn-Preische, Career Center discussed many of MCC’s academic and transfer opportunities. The panel was moderated by Sarah Hagreen, Admissions Counselor.

In addition, two current MCC students, Lisa Heininger, Phi Theta Kappa, and Zeynep Oksuz, Dental Hygiene spoke to the group about their experiences at MCC.

“The feedback from the prospective students and their parents was overwhelming positive.  Many people were pleasantly surprised to learn about the outstanding opportunities and resources MCC offers students,” commented Christine Casalinuovo-Adams, Admission Counselor and coordinator of the event.

The Honors Open House has become an annual recruitment event targeting high school honors students who have many options when it comes to selecting a college.  Many of these students are finding MCC a great place to start their college careers.
