Caldwell and Dugan Co-Present at Hobsons University

Ebony Caldwell, Project Director for the Engagement of Student Success - Title III Program, Academic Foundations, and Dr. Larry Dugan, Director of e-Learning and Instructional Technologies,  Instructional Services, were invited by Starfish (through Hobsons) to showcase how MCC, along with three other national institutions, have taken the lead to begin implementation of Starfish EARLY ALERT as a student success system at the annual Hobsons University Conference recently held in San Antonio, Texas.

The topic of their session was “A Community College Perspective on Implementing a Student Success System: What Worked, What Didn’t, and Measuring Results.”  Their presentation included discussion on the following:  how can a student success system support student retention and completion efforts at community colleges; and what does it take to implement a new system in the community college environment? Their presentation discussed the lessons learned and covered how MCC got organized, what goals were established, who participated in the implementation, how the system was deployed, the results that are seen, and what comes next.

MCC is recognized as a national college model resource for Starfish thanks to the work of Ebony, Larry and the Virtual Campus Center.
