TCC Seeks Nominations

The Teaching & Creativity Center would like your help in initiating a project: creating a series of videotapes of outstanding MCC professors at work in the classroom. We hope the series will serve as a resource for any MCC teacher looking to improve or refresh his or her skills, and it can perhaps also serve as a pedagogical tool in our education classes.

We would like to capture, on video, outstanding teachers in a variety of disciplines practicing a variety of techniques – lecturing, guiding group work or discussions, conducting hands-on or role-playing activities, creatively using technology, and so on. Ideally, teachers from both campuses as well as the West Henrietta Road and Scottsville Road facilities would be included. That is where we need your help. If you know of a teacher or teachers whose work deserves being preserved on tape, please send us the name or names. We will give priority to teachers nearing retirement.

Professors who consent to being videotaped in the classroom will have complete control over the process. We can film as many classes as it takes until the teacher is satisfied that we have captured a representative lesson or portion of a lesson, and the teacher will have final say over any editing. The TCC also will take care of student release forms. We envision that the series would be available on DVDs stored at the center and from the center’s website using a password system.

Please help by sending names to the TCC co-chair, Karen Coffey ("mailto:kcoffey@monroecc.edu"). Any suggestions or questions also are welcome.
