Please Share with Your Students: Reminder About Mandatory Pooled Testing This Week

Greetings, faculty and staff

Student participation in COVID-19 pooled testing after the Thanksgiving break is mandatory. Students are being informed about MCC's SUNY-approved Fall 2020 Return Plans via the Student Tribune and social media. We appreciate your assistance in spreading the word. If you have questions, please send them to: covid19response@monroecc.edu. Many thanks for all you do for our students!

Please note: All faculty, staff and students planning to go to any MCC location are required to undergo testing. For employees who choose to be tested by another provider this week, please send proof of a negative test to Human Resources Director Kristin Lowe at klowe5@monroecc.edu. Employees who test positive for COVID-19 should also contact Kristin Lowe. Names and personal information will remain confidential. Thank you.

Dear Student,

Your efforts have been heroic! Thank you for doing your part to keep yourself and our community healthy and safe.

Throughout this holiday season, we must continue to be vigilant. We know that one or two infected people re-entering a community can be enough to spark a major surge in cases.

For this reason, MCC is implementing SUNY-approved protocols in December that take into account your unique situation. Details of MCC's protocols are available at www.monroecc.edu/coronavirus.

All students who come to the Applied Technologies Center, Eastman Business Park, and/or the Brighton and Downtown campuses -- for any reason after the Thanksgiving Recess and for the remainder of the fall semester -- are required to participate in pooled COVID-19 testing* on Tuesday, Dec. 1, or Wednesday, Dec. 2. Appointments are not necessary. Pooled testing will be conducted on a walk-in basis from 9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A & B) on the Brighton Campus.

* You may also present verification of a negative COVID test from an alternate testing site to studentrights@monroecc.edu. If you live on campus, please follow the specific protocols provided by the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

By getting tested and doing your part to help keep MCC safe, your name will be entered weekly into drawings to win MCC T-Shirts and Beanies and other special prizes! (See the Student Tribune for more information.)

If you test positive for COVID-19, you must:

  • Immediately contact MCC Health Services at (585) 292-2018 or healthsvc@monroecc.edu. Your name and personal information will remain confidential.

If you traveled outside New York state within the past two weeks, you must:

  • Follow state-mandated travel protocols on COVID-19 testing and quarantine/isolation.

Students who violate health protocols and quarantine or isolation orders are subject to conduct charges through the Monroe Community College Student Code of Conduct and sanctions as outlined in the SUNY Sanctions in Response to COVID-19 Violations.

Your participation in COVID-19 testing--along with remaining vigilant about mask-wearing, social distancing and hand-washing--helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 on campus and in the community. If you have questions or concerns, please call the hotline at (585) 292-8310.

Thank you for caring about our MCC family. We wish you a happy, healthy holiday season.
