I regret to inform you that Nelson G. Rich, retired professor, mathematics, passed away on November 13, 2003. Nelson started at MCC in 1971. He became an assistant professor in September 1975 and was promoted to associate professor in 1982-83. Nelson served as mathematics department chairperson from 1982 - 85. He was program co-chairperson for the 10th anniversary convention of the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges held in 1984 at the World Trade Center.
He is survived by his wife Kristen Waterstram-Rich; his mother, Charlotte Rich; his brothers,Stanley and Gary Rich and his sisters Nancy (John) VanHooydonk & Joyce (Robert) Lang. He is also survived by 27 nieces and nephews; 27 great-nieces and nephews; 3 great-great-nieces and nephews and numerous other family members and dear friends. He is predeceased by his father, Stanley Rich.
