Congratulations Susan Hall, Ph.D, MCC's Emerging Excellence Award Recipient

Dr. Susan Hall, Associate Director, Curriculum and Assessment, is the 2022 recipient of MCC's Emerging Excellence Award (MEEA).  This award is specifically designed for newer employees who have gone above and beyond the general responsibilities of their role.  Anyone who has made curricular changes, engaged in the assessment process, or revised their SUNY Gen Ed designations has likely had direct experience with Dr. Hall's professionalism and efficiency.

With a doctorate in English Language and Literature and significant teaching experience, Susan has also carved a professional path with curriculum and assessment posts in several states.  Joining MCC in 2019 as Assistant Director of Curriculum and Assessment and quickly rising to Associate Director in 2020, Susan Hall assists with curriculum and program proposals to SUNY and NYSED.  Additionally, Susan coordinates general education assessment and program evaluation cycles and is an invaluable resource for faculty undergoing the assessment process.  She also serves as the Middle States Accredidation Liaison.  Among her many areas of expertise and influence, Susan also is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.  In one of the support letters for Susan's nomination, Christina Lee writes, "Susan’s work on all our committees together has had the foresight to think about how our work will impact faculty and students as we focus on equity in our collective work. Her thinking and planning around assessing diversity, equity, and inclusion learning outcomes and how to measure and assess intercultural competency and other global learning outcomes is innovative and imperative in our evolution as a community college."

Dr. Susan Hall has made signifcant and lasting impacts at MCC in just a few short years.  Her consummate professionalism, disciplined curiosity to find answers in the sometimes unweildy maze of curriculum and assessment, and her commitment to a just and inclusive campus, are why the Faculty Senate recognizes Susan Hall as the 2022 MCC Emerging Excellence Award recipient.
