MTV's Real World Comes to MCC

On Wednesday, February 26, Amaya Brecher and Veronica Portillo, two members of MTV's Real World cast, will visit Monroe Community College to talk about their struggles with eating disorders. A noon presentation by Brecher and Portillo will be held in the MCC Brighton Campus Theatre, Bldg. 4. They will also give a presentation at 7 p.m. in Room 8-300. Both events are being sponsored by MCC's Campus Activities Board.

A native of Oakland, California, Brecher overcame bulimia after her freshman year in college at UCLA. She appeared on "The Real World: Hawaii" and two "Real World/Road Rules Challenges." Portillo, also a Californian, suffered from both bulimia and anorexia. Portillo was a cast member of MTV's "Road Rules: Semester at Sea" and three "Real World/Road Rules Challenges."

Tickets for both the noon and 7 p.m. presentations are available at the Brighton Student Center Service Desk, Bldg. 3 and the Damon City Campus Bookstore. Both presentations will be videostreamed. To access this service, just go to the MCC Web site at www.monroecc.edu, click on the quick links at the top of the home page and click again on the video server.
