Professor Angelique Stevens Presents at the Finger Lakes Forum

Professor Angelique Stevens was the kick-off speaker for the Finger Lakes Forum Speaker Series this year. In her presentation, "South Sudan: The Emergence and Hope of a Fledgling Country," she outlined the complex geo-political history leading up to the creation of the newest country in the world, discussed the humanitarian issues both Sudan and South Sudan face today, and offered some of the ways building infrastructure can make a difference.  Professor Stevens is on the Board of Directors for Water for South Sudan and in 2008, she travelled to South Sudan as part of an observation trip to watch the drilling of a water borehole.

The mission of the Finger Lakes Forum is to educate and inform its members about issues of current importance in the world. The forum has 125 members who are professionals, business leaders, civic leaders, and academics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and Cornell University.
