MCC hockey player Paul Helfer (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and basketball player Lynnise Nixon (Philadelphia, Pa./Frankfort) were named the MCC Athletes of the Week.
Helfer tallied three goals and an assist as the MCC hockey team defeated the Cornell JVs 11-4. He was also named the Region III Hockey Player of the Week. The Tribunes will play in the national tournament this weekend in Bottineau, N.D.
Nixon averaged 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two wins this week. The sophomore forward had 20 points and 14 rebounds against Mercyhurst North East, then added 17 points and seven rebounds against Jamestown CC.
