New Sculpture in the Flynn Campus Center Atrium

If you are walking through the Flynn Campus Center, you can’t miss it. “Emergence,” a sculpture located on the wall above the bookstore was created by Mary E. Bradley, a psychiatric technician at Strong Memorial Hospital. Bradley, who graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in education, has worked as an artist for 25 years, exhibiting her work in group and individual shows throughout New Hampshire and Michigan. Born in Detroit, MI, Bradley now resides in Rochester where her work can be seen at both her studio and at Mamasan’s restaurant on Monroe Avenue.

This sculpture is a visual celebration of the human spirit, our creative potential, and the power of the human imagination. It is intended to inspire a deeper understanding of our human potential, which is also promoted by the educational process. “Emergence” is one of a kind, but more of Bradley’s work can be seen in “Contemporary American Woman Sculptures,” published in 1986.

Mary E. Bradley believes that truth itself is what is displayed through a work of art. “I have found working as an artist celebrates the magic and mystery of life.”
